According to some new research, Britons are less likely to look at certain people’s online dating profiles based on how ‘attractive’ their name is. Findings by Humboldt University in Berlin show that particular names are deemed unattractive and that some people are less prone to pursuing a relationship or a UK date if a budding spouse’s name is associated with trouble making.

The psychologists found that if one’s name is Kevin, dating in UK and finding love online can be tough and that the worst names for boys include Justin, Marvin and Dennis. The female names which are said to be off putting to potential partners consist of Mandy, Celina, Chantal and Jacqueline.

The study, which involved the questioning of 47,000 dating site members, took place by sending messages without pictures and just names, ages and postcodes. In contrast, the best names for online dating comprise of Jacob, Alexander, Max, Peter and Mark and girl’s names that are appealing include Charlotte, Emma, Hannah and Marie.

The daters who had unlikeable first names received significantly fewer clicks, as messages sent from an Alexander established 102% more responsiveness than those from a Kevin. The survey’s leader explained that people who date would prefer to remain single than meet someone called Chantal or Kevin.
